Personal Record

Before I headed out this morning, I had a slice of wheat bread with almond butter on it and water.

It was the PERFECT morning for a race It was sunny and cool. It felt just like fall outside.

The 10k started at 8am. We lined up guys on one side, ladies on the other.

While I was racing…my personal photographer (Deon) got to work!

I’m not the world’s fastest runner by a loooong shot & my goal was to finish my first 10k in under an hour & a half. More precisely, I wanted to finish in an hour & 20 minutes. I got an hour & 22 minutes Since it was my first time, in the words of Nicole, it is my new PERSONAL RECORD!!!!

With the race done I got to enjoy the festivities. Also, got to chat with Nicole for a couple minutes. Congratulations to her for getting 4th in her age group! AWESOME!!!!!!

I can tell you one thing…there is no excuse for being hungry after a race around here. They give you every means possible to hydrate & replenish your carbs, electrolytes and sugar.

I resisted the urge to dive into a cupcake & some ice cream I did have a small cup of Coke though and watermelon.

After I was decently cooled down, & not thirsty anymore, Deon & I walked around for a bit. I did some stretching while we were away from the big crowd too.

Once we got back to my Dad’s (he’s still out of town) we sat out on the porch and ate & drank coffee. I just made up a plate of different fruits & some bacon for us to share. The puppies sure were enjoying the weather and sunshine

I laid down for an hour with my legs elevated and strategically placed ice packs all around. Not sure what we are doing the rest of the day or what’s for dinner? But I do know I’m in full recovery mode!

Still need to mow that darn back yard too…
